The Anatomy of a Corporate Cupcake Order

Hello Cupcake Lovers!

Every now and then we get a smaller corporate order, and this order for 250 cupcakes was one of the installments for PRP, and so I had a chance to snap a few pics as we went along!

PRP architects were celebrating their 50th birthday, and so they asked us to provide personalised cupcakes for their festivities. They had a special logo designed for this landmark occasion.

What you can see below are a series of pictures that show you how our corporate orders take shape. All that is left to do is box them up and call the courier!

Happy Cupcaking Darlings!

Corporate Cupcakes for Jo Malone

Good evening, Cake Lovers!

A few weeks ago I received an e-mail from the lovely Sophie in Events at Jo Malone HQ. She told me about the upcoming launch parties they were having for their Limited Edition Sugar and Spice range. She described them as "A collection of five fragrances created for moments of delicious pleasure. Inspired by delectable ingredients. Decadently tempting."

We were asked to produce some cupcakes for their launch party that were inspired by their fragrances. The fragrances are Elderflower & Gooseberry, Lemon Tart, Redcurrant & Cream, Bitter Orange & Chocolate, Ginger Biscuit.

We had huge fun producing the cupcakes which were inspired by the delicious special edition fragrances, and had great feedback from our client.

Corporate Cupcakes for Disney HQ London

Hello Cake-Lovers!

A few weeks ago we got an exciting e-mail from Jordan who works for The Walt Disney Company Ltd. He asked us to prepare some Disney-themed cupcakes, with half of them featuring signature Mickey Mouse ears, and with the other half topped with Minnie Ears & a bow.

We used Giant Chocolate Buttons for the Ears and created the bows using red fondant and white royal icing dots. Pop these on top of our signature buttercream swirls et voila.....

We had fantastic feedback from the client and we look forward to creating many more Disney cupcakes in the future!

Corporate Cupcakes / Logo Cupcakes

Hi All,

I just wanted to share this fab picture taken by the very talented Krishanthi from Photography by Krishanthi.

The cupcakes featured here are the corporate cupcakes that we did for Kraft, the home of Cadburys HQ. They were announcing the launch of their "Have a Fling with a Creme Egg" campaign, and so they had asked us to produce cupcakes with their logo on, as well as a mini Cadburys Creme Egg.

We had wonderful feedback from Stephanie at Cadburys, who told us that these cupcakes went down a treat with all of their staff.

Thanks for the order, Cadburys!

Christmas Cupcakes from Crumbs Couture!

Well folks, it's that time of year again! This year, we have designed a series of toppers to put on our festive cupcakes, and they can be seen below. We have included our logo on the cupcakes to show you an example of the how your cupcakes can be personalised to reflect  your brand or company.

I think these would be a perfect gift to send out to your clients, or as a sweet treat for your parties.

Enjoy!

Happy Centenary Belling!

In August we were contacted by an events company that were organising the centenary celebrations of Belling, the British cooking appliance company. They were having a party at The Savoy and wanted a branded pair of cupcakes in a branded box, to give to each of the attendees. Here is what happened next:

8000 cupcakes

Hello Cake Fans,

Back in April we received an e-mail from a marketing company with a rather interesting order. Their client, a very well know baking blog, wanted 8000 plain cupcakes for the Jubilee weekend to be given to children to decorate as part of the activities at the Jubilee Family Festival at Hyde Park.

It was the largest single order that we have had so far at Crumbs, and so it presented an exciting challenge. The client wanted us to use their own brand ingredients, and so a huge crate of these arrived a week before the order! Oh yes, we really did go "Baking Mad".

So what does it take to produce 8000 cupcakes? Take a look...

8000 cupcake cases
85 kg of flour
85 kg of caster sugar
180 kg of Icing Sugar
180kg of butter
1333 eggs
approx 1/2 gallon of Nielsen Massey Vanilla extract
8 pints of milk
320 cupcake boxes

Hours the oven was on: 32
Number of power cuts: 1
Number of cups of tea consumed by bakers/decorators: 48
Number of M&S Sandwiches consumed by bakers/decorators: 12
Playing in the kitchen: BBC Radio 5 Live with Jubilee Celebration updates.
Number of deliveries to Hyde Park: 3

Cupcakes, The Olympics and Trademarks.

Hello Cake Lovers!

A fortnight ago, we were called with a request to make cupcakes for a party which had an Olympics Theme. The Birthday Boy is performing in the Olympics opening ceremony, and so he specifically wanted all of his cupcakes to feature the Olympics rings on them.

We had a quick look on the web and saw that many cupcake companies had done this, and so off we trotted to make 500 rings out of coloured fondant! After sending the cupcakes off, we tweeted a few pictures to show our followers what we had been up to. Cue barrage of tweets regarding trademarks!!

Many of the tweets, which sent us links to a story about warnings sent to the British Sugarcraft Guild, were genuine warnings about possibly getting into trouble with the IOC. A number were less friendly, and send from the cake-makers who seem to patrol my timeline for material to discuss in cake forums and only ever get in touch to criticise!

There are many cake decorators who recreate popular characters and logos on their cupcakes. I very much doubt that each cupcake maker who has ever made a Hello Kitty cake or Angry Birds cupcakes have sought prior permission from Sanrio or Rovio Mobile. The difference seems to be that, when it comes to the Olympics rings, the trademark is enforced in a more vehement fashion.

It seems as though we will have to stick to making Union Jacks for the Olympics. It's not such a bad thing; those rings were ridiculously fiddly!!

Bespoke Couture Cupcakes: Guitars and Lovebirds...

Last week we were contacted by the lovely Banita from Premier PR who told us about a client of their who was launching an exciting new product. For the product launch, Premier PR wanted lots of our little boxes containing 2 of our cupcakes, one of which was to feature a guitar, the other to feature a lovebird. An unusual combination, but as you know, at "Crumbs!" we are used to all sorts of requests, so off we went. Here are the results:

We think these cupcakes are rather "tweet" :)

Feedback from the client was fab, which was "music to our ears"...

Ok...Enough of my awful jokes!
